FAQ

Why Temiscaming?
Endurance Aventure has a long history of staging youth races and prologues as part of their international events and their partners in Temiscamingue backed the new championship event. The region is perfect for adventure racing and has a rich culture and history.
Why is the race run in teams of two?
We wanted to make the first race accessible and it's easier to put together a team of two, and to fund a trip for two racers (rather than for 3 or 4). In future the Championship may require mixed teams of 3 or 4, but for the first two years the race will be for pairs.

What are the distances during the event?
Day 1 Youth Prologue: approximately 10 to 20 km
Day 2 World Championship: approximately 50 to 60 km
Day 3 World Championship: approximately 40 to 50 km
Will there be World Champion titles in each category?
Yes, there will be winners in both age categories for male, female and mixed pairs. (Provided there is a minimum of 3 teams in the category.)

What is included in the registration fee?
The entry fee will cover delivery of the race, provided equipment (canoes, paddle & ropes equipment), maps, and bike transportation during the event. Also included is camping, the opening ceremony, prize giving presentation and banquet. Teams will be responsible for their own travel costs to reach Temiscamingue and personal insurance.

How does the selection process work?
All teams interested in taking part should complete pre-registration, whether they aim to race as a National or an Independent team.
Member countries of IARA can choose up to two teams to represent their country.
This process may be different in each country and applicants will be kept informed of the process in their country.

If an IARA member country is unable to take up their allocated entries, those place(s) may be taken up by another IARA country in addition to the two allocated.
Independent entries will be allowed from countries with selected national teams.
What if I live in a country different from my nationality?
Both nationality and residence will be accepted to represent a country.

Can a team be formed with different nationalities?
No. All teams must be from a single country.

Do teams need to be accompanied by a manager/parent/adult?
Competitors in the 15-18 age group must be accompanied and it's optional for the 19-25 age group.
Supporters travelling with teams will be assisted and accommodated if possible with the resources of the race, and further information will be available in due course.
